Pat.

Greetings! A little about me…

I’m Pat McCarthy — a designer, musician, and creative problem solver with over 20 years of experience in both the design and entertainment industries.

My Journey Into Design

After earning my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Southern Connecticut State University, I started my career in the fast-paced world of corporate design. For six years, I worked at a marketing agency in New York, specializing in:

  • UX/UI presentations – Designing user-friendly, engaging presentations that communicate complex ideas clearly.

  • Book layouts – Structuring and formatting content for both print and digital publications.

  • Web and print advertising – Creating effective ad campaigns that combined strong visuals with strategic messaging.

This experience taught me how to balance creativity with functionality — crafting designs that not only looked good but also achieved business goals.

Designing for the Music Industry

After my time in corporate design, I shifted into the music and entertainment industry, where my two creative passions — design and music — naturally intersected. I began working with a major booking agency, handling:

  • Tour announcements – Designing dynamic visuals that captured the energy of an artist's tour.

  • One sheets – Creating professional, easy-to-read documents to help artists pitch their work.

  • Promotional materials – Developing web and print assets for album releases, merchandise, and social media campaigns.

From there, I started freelancing with artists, record labels, management companies, and studios, designing everything from album covers and social media content to logos and websites. My background in music gives me an intuitive understanding of the creative and business sides of the industry — helping me create designs that truly resonate with both artists and audiences.

A Dual Creative Path

Alongside my design career, I’ve also built a successful career as a Musical Director, Producer, and Multi-Instrumentalist. I’ve served as the Music Director for artists like Michael Ray and Cassadee Pope, performed on national and international tours, and played major festivals and TV appearances — including The Tonight Show and The Today Show. My ability to lead a team and coordinate complex live performances has sharpened my creative problem-solving and project management skills — which naturally carry over into my design work.

My Design Philosophy

At the core of my work is a belief that good design is about clarity, connection, and purpose. Whether it’s a clean, intuitive website or a bold tour poster, my goal is to create designs that not only capture attention but also communicate effectively. I understand the balance between art and strategy — ensuring that every design serves both creative and business objectives.
